What does wellness mean to me? | Wellness Upgrader

Wellness to me means taking care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s about being in tune with my body and knowing when to rest when to move, and what to eat. It’s also about being honest with myself about my thoughts and feelings and taking time for self-care. When I am well, I am able to show up as my best self for my family, friends, and community.

Wellness is a journey, not a destination. And like any journey, there will be ups and downs. But if we commit to taking care of ourselves, we can find our way back to wellness time and time again.

So how do we do that? Here are a few things that have helped me on my own journey to wellness:

1. Get enough sleep:

This one is so important, and often the first to go when life gets busy. But skimping on sleep can lead to all sorts of problems, from impaired cognitive function to a weakened immune system. So make sure to get those seven to eight hours per night!

2. Eat healthily:

Eating nutritious foods helps our bodies to function at their best. And while there’s no one-size-fits-all diet, most of us would benefit from eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats.

3. Move our bodies:

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress, boost mood, and improve overall health. And it doesn’t have to be a huge commitment – even a short walk can make a difference.

4. Take breaks:

When we’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to take a step back and give ourselves a break. Whether that means taking a few deep breaths, getting outside for some fresh air, or taking a break from social media, find what works for you and make time for it every day.

5. Connect with others:

Social connection is crucial for our mental health. So reach out to your friends and family, join a club or team, or volunteer for a cause you care about.

These are just a few of the many things we can do to take care of ourselves. By making small changes in our daily lives, we can make a big difference in our overall wellness. So let’s start today!
